Why More Men & Women are Strengthening Jawline with Fillers & Botox

The latest non-surgical celebrity hack to sculpting your face is rapidly growing among men and women of all ages.

Here’s Everything You Need To Know About Jawline Fillers…

When you meet someone for the first time, what’s the first thing you notice about them? For most people, it’s their eyes or smile. No matter what facial feature you focus on first, it’s clear that your face can make a lasting impression on others. If you’re insecure about a particular feature on your face, it can affect both your professional and personal life.

Your jawline might not be the first thing you think people notice about you, but it’s a source of insecurity for many people. Over time, you might notice that your jawline appears droopy or not as firm. For this reason, many people are turning to jawline fillers to help restore one of their most noticeable facial features. Here’s everything you need to know about jawline fillers to help you determine whether or not they are right for you.

What Are Jawline Fillers & Other Treatments?

A jawline filler is designed to give your face a firmer, slimmer and more chiseled look. It involves injecting Botox  (muscle relaxant) or a filler into your jawline to give you the appearance of a stronger jawline. This can help give you more distinction between neck and face, which makes your face look thinner.

Research shows that fillers don’t just add volume to your face. Jawline fillers are used to replace bone, which is what gives your jawline a more contoured look. Our office can help you determine which filler would be best for your skin and facial structure.  Initial consultations are free.

Getting a jawline filler is a less invasive procedure than having surgery on your face to get the desired look you want. There is no down time and you can see results immediately with fillers and upto 2 weeks for Botox. These results can last between one year or more with the fillers and 4 to 6 months with Botox.

Why Do You Need A Jawline Filler?

Jawline fillers are a great beauty tool that many models and famous people use because it shapes their face and allows their features to become more defined. It also has no downtime and is very safe to use, which means that you don’t have to worry about hiding your face for days at a time like you would have to do after surgery.

You may also need a jawline filler as you get older. This is because you naturally lose bone density as you age. This can create the appearance of a fuller face with less defined features. Asian women are especially prone to losing bone density early on. This makes jawline sculpting an ideal beauty treatment for many Asian women at any age.

Using a structural filler injection to mimic bone can help give you the contoured look you used to have when you were younger. When you use a filler along your jawline, it creates an appearance of a slimmer jaw by adding more structure to the area. This makes your face appear thinner and more youthful.

The bottom line is that it doesn’t matter what age or what gender you are. Jawline sculpting is beneficial for both men and women of any age and the results last a long time!

Do Jawline Fillers Really Make Your Face More Attractive?

Yes! Research shows that your jawline strength has a lot to do with how attractive you are to other people. A strong jawline is especially important for men. One study found that a large jaw and a prominent brow ridge had higher ratings of dominance in identikit, photographic and composite stimuli (1).

But having a strong jawline doesn’t just work well for men. Think about the women in Hollywood with strong jawlines that make men swoon, like Angelina Jolie, Halle Berry, Jennifer Lopez and Keira Knightly. A prominent jawline helps draw out other features of the face, such as lips, cheekbones, eyes and even eyebrows.

How Do Jawline Fillers Work?

A jawline filler makes your bone features look more distinct. This gives off the appearance of a slimmer, more chiseled face. It also makes your smile look great!

After a free consultation with our office, we will advise the best type of filler or treatment for your facial features and your goals. Generally, we recommend either a Radiesse or Voluma treatment. These fillers are structural fillers. They don’t bind to water and they mimic the appearance of bone to give you a more structured and less oval-shaped face.

In many cases, people experience a “saggy” face because the neck muscles are pulling your facial muscles in a downward direction. Placing a filler in your neck helps the muscles pull in an upward and inward direction to help give you a better jawline.

What Does A Jawline Filler Procedure Look Like?

After a consultation with our office, our staff will invite you in and have you relax in a chair.  The doctor will prep the area and insert a filler directly into your skin.

When the filler is injected, most patients feel the pin prick of the needle entering the skin.  Usually ice is applied to help with the initial pin prick of the needle.  Then they will just feel pressure and hear some popping noise. The popping nose is just the little air bubbles in the filler. This isn’t a painful procedure.  The majority of the patients do not need any topical anesthesia.

If we need to relax your neck muscles, then Botox or a wrinkle relaxer will be inserted directly into the neck muscles, which are very strong.  The neck muscles pull down the lower facial muscles causing that droop along the jawline.  By relaxing the neck muscles, the facial muscles pull up the skin, giving a more defined jawline. This usually requires around 24 to 60  units of Botox.

What Should I Know Before I get A Jawline Filler?

Before you get a jawline filler, it’s important to meet with our doctor to determine your needs. We can help determine whether you need a jawline filler using a combination of Botox (muscle relaxer) and fillers or if a Kybella treatment is what you really need.

For example, Kybella only works on fat. If your goal is to reduce the appearance of fat on your face or body, then this could be a good option for you. Most of the time we can lift the jowl area with filler.  However, some people who have a lot of fat in their face near the jaw line will do better with Kybella to help alleviate this problem.

Filler, Botox (muscle relaxers) and Kybella can help give you a chiseled look. Botox (muscle relaxers) and fillers tend to provide quicker results. You can always get a Kybella treatment later to help reduce fat if needed.

You can also get a jawline filler to help treat a double chin. Research shows that sometimes a double chin is due to more than fat. It can be attributed to poor bone structure. A jawline filler can improve the appearance of a double chin quickly and efficiently without any downtime.

Are Men Getting More Jawline Fillers Today?

Yes! Men are absolutely benefiting from a jawline fillers! In fact, many men find that losing their chiseled jawline is one of the features they miss most from their youth.

Having a strong jawline and wide chin are considered an attractive feature in both men and women.

Additionally, research shows that men may lose the appearance of a strong jawline as they age and their testosterone levels drop. Low testosterone can affect younger men, too.

Many women associate a strong male jawline with a more attractive face (2). According to the L.A. Times, a man’s jawline signifies strength, and this is a feature that women like to see because it shows that he has gone through puberty (3).

In fact, one study found that women are more attracted to men with a square jawline during the most fertile part of their  monthly cycle (4)! The same study found that women are more likely to choose men with strong jawlines as the more attractive sexual partner (5).

We encourage men to come in and explore their options with our jawline filler procedures.

Are There Any Side Effects to Jawline Fillers?

Fillers are generally considered safe and have very few side effects. You may experience swelling or slight discomfort after the procedure, but these symptoms usually go away within a few hours or a couple of days.

How Long Do Jawline Fillers Last?

Results usually last between one and two years. Additionally, fillers on bone can help build collagen.  If you do more of a full correction in the beginning then your will last longer.  If you maintain your filler regimen, in the long run, you may need less fillers in the future.
