Dermaplaning Treatment

Dermaplaning is a non-invasive procedure that involves scraping off dead skin cells from the top layer of your skin using a special tool. By clearing away dead skin, you’ll be able to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and dark spots. Your skin tone will look more even, and your pores will look smaller. Dermaplaning improves the elasticity and texture of the skin and stimulates the circulation of blood and lymph. After dermaplaning, many people feel their skin gets back a more natural glow. Your skin will instantly feel smoother, softer, and firmer! Also, after dermaplaning, when you put on your makeup, you will quickly notice a smoother, more beautiful, airbrushed look.

How it works

Dermaplaning works by gently removing the top layer of your skin. Three weeks of dead skin gone! We use a surgical tool to carefully remove dead skin cells from the most visible layer on your face. We further exfoliate and detox your face by applying a gentle facial peel to remove any residual dead skin. By removing the dirt and dead skin cells from your outer layer, dermaplaning stimulates your skin to generate new, healthy skin cells. The process is much gentler and more effective than using harsh chemical peels.

After we remove the peach fuzz and dead skin, your skin will continue to generate new and healthy cells. Your skin will glow with a more youthful appearance.

During the procedure, we will invite you to lie down and relax. We’ll use a special tool to scrape the dead skin off your face. The process is painless. No anesthetic or numbing medicine is needed. After we scrape the dead skin off your face, we will apply a facial peel to further exfoliate the skin. Then we apply a serum and cream that help build collagen because right after dermaplaning your skin will allow deeper penetration of peptides and the other collagen-building elements into your skin.

FAQ

Common Questions Answered.

What is the average age of someone who gets dermaplaning?

You can schedule a dermaplaning treatment at any age! The sooner you start and maintain your face, the longer you can prevent the telltale signs of aging skin: wrinkling, sagging, dullness and spotting.

Why do I need a dermaplaning treatment?

Every day, sun damage, environmental toxins, and other irritants attack your skin. Additionally, poor diet aggravates your skin. These factors make your skin appear dull and older than you really are. In removing the outer damaged layer of skin, dermaplaning reveals the youthful underlying layer and stimulates your skin to create new, healthy cells so that your glowing appearance lasts.

What does the typical candidate for dermaplaning look like?

We don’t like to stereotype! Anyone of any age or ethnicity or sex can benefit from this rejuvenating and detoxifying treatment. We encourage anyone who wants to look and feel younger to come see us.

What’s the biggest complaint of people who get this treatment?

The number one complaint is dull skin. Other frequent complaints are spots and excess hair. Everyone likes to see smooth, hairless, luminous skin when they look in the mirror.

What are the possible side effects?

Most people respond very well to dermaplaning, as it is non-invasive. However, some people may experience slight irritation after treatment. The treatments are painless. Other procedures can be rough on the skin and result in redness or abrasions.

What is the recovery process like?

The best part of dermaplaning is that there is no downtime! You can go about your day as soon as you leave our office looking more refreshed.

Will your hair grow back worse?

It is a myth that your hair will grow back thicker or faster. When your hair grows back, it will be the exact same color and thickness as it was before.

How long does a dermaplaning session last?

Your procedure may last anywhere from thirty minutes to an hour. You will notice results as soon as the treatment is done! Dermaplaning removes about three weeks of dead skin, so we recommend that you schedule a treatment once a month or so to keep your skin looking fresh. Continuous treatments encourage your skin to turnover new cells and build collagen.

Who should not get dermaplaning?

While dermaplaning can help reduce the appearance of acne scars, you cannot do this if you have active acne and/or frequent breakouts. People with sensitive skin including those who are prone to rosacea or keloids should not have dermaplaning. In the last four weeks, if you had excessive sun exposure or if you underwent other skin procedures, such as laser, chemical peels, plastic surgery, or microdermabrasion, then you should let your skin heal before having dermaplaning. If you use Retin-A or retinol, please stop these medications at least one week before dermaplaning.

Are there any precautions that I should do after dermaplaning?

For the first 24 hours after dermaplaning, you should avoid the sun, excessive heat and heavy exercise. Thereafter, you should always protect your skin from the sun to prevent further damage.
